visual portfolio brainstorming

one of the sites i like is this one http://www.jonathanyuen.com/_main.html . I really like how simple it is with just the black and white for the colour scheme, it looks professional.  i also like how if u put your mouse over the little red + sign it brings up the other things you can do on the site. what makes this site professional from others is that its very clean and easy to understand how it works. i really like how he made it slide the the right instead of growing up and down.

i also really like the actions on this one  http://www.cathybeck.com/   how the branch of the tree grows to the next subject of the blog. for my blog i would like to make it colourful like some of the other ones but a lot of them aren't working so i cant see what they look like.

for my visual portfolio i would like to do some kind of a street theme. I think it would be cool to take pictures of the the streets and use them as the backgrounds for my portfolio.i think it would be cool to have it as like an alley in the streets with a dumpster or something like that as a button and have a person skate by and hav the sound of the wheels on the cement. also ad in like a pipe or a sewer with gass floating from it.

for about a month now i have been thinking about doing a write up about my barn and some how showing it to the world that i have an indoor skatepark in my barn.  i think people would find it cool that i live on a farm and in my barn theres graffiti and street art + all the normal things in a barn. i think that my barn would be a great theme for my visual profolio because it is a part of me and it is where i spend alot of time creating.

sound sculpture reflection

What I like about my sound sculpture. I really like the bottom button of the skateboard and how I used a picture of the same skateboard just one was all marked up and one was new. I like how there is a sounds for all the parts on my skateboard button.  I’m glad I chose skateboarding because its something I enjoy and I hope the sounds give the user an experience of what its like to skate.
What I dislike?  I don’t really like how the long board is on the road by itself. I wish I added a skateboard on the side walk and made it make a clicking noise.  I don’t really like how big the background picture is either I was originally looking for a picture with just a side walk on one half and a road on the other from a birds eye view.
What makes this a sculpture?  When just looking at it i see it as a picture not a sculpture, but when you click one of the buttons and you see the old thrashed part of the board and here the sound I feel like it is pretty realistic to the actual skateboarding experience.

sound sculpture brainstorming

For this project I would like to show a side of skateboarding that only skaters really know of. Skateboarding wouldn't be the same if it didn't have the popping and snapping sounds of the board hitting the cement.  Most people find it loud and annoying but to skaters the sounds of the board is like art.

I think I am going to start by finding a picture of a road for the background and have different skateboards on it and when you click different part of different boards it will make the sound that they would in real life. I'm also going to add a side walk into the background and add the clicking sound that is made when the wheels hit the cracks of the sidewalk.

animated masterpiece

What I like about it. I like how it actually turned out looking like the maid drops the sheet and the dustpan. I like how its fairly smooth for Photoshop and the background didn’t look that bad because of the clone stamp tool. I enjoyed animating this on Photoshop but the flash part i didn’t like near as much. But I like the concept of repeating the image in Photoshop and make it look like its moving then putting it in flash to watch it.

What I don’t like. I dont like how the sound of the dustpan doesn't match up exactly when it hits the ground. I also dont how it took so long to make. I wish animation didn't take so long. if animation wasn't so time consuming I would mabey consider it as a career choice.

What I think banksy would think of this is that it is a cool idea and that somebody took his art and made it move.  I can also see him being annoyed that another fan of his copied one of his pieces because so many people do. I think he would look at it as just another piece os fan art.

moveing art brainstorming

For this project I'm going to do a Banksy piece.  there is so many pieces in my mind that would work but i think I'm going to do this one
I'm going to make it look like the girl drop the sheet down and throws the dust pan into it. i was going to make here roll paint over herself but that would have been to complicated.

world flag

What I like about this flag is that it represents the world as being one.  I like how I showed the four elements and how it unites the world together because everyone needs them to live.  The sun in the background is also something that everyone needs to be able to live because it gives us heat. The sun also unites the world as one.
What I don’t like is the black lines behind the big globe that the sun caused. I also don’t like how the fire and earth globes are not as black and they don’t stand out as much as the wind and the water.  I really didn’t like this assignment at first because I was really confused on what I wanted to do but I’m happy on how it turned out.
This flag is art because it’s an image that i made using photo shop. the image on the flag also has a massage behind it for the viewer to find out.  the massege behind my flag is that everyone in the world has things in comin. the 4 elements are a bassic thing that we all have in comin and they represent life.

Things I like:
I thought the idea of this project was really cool, the fact that I took a company and used its own slogan against it to make fun of it. I thought it was cool how the company makes itself look green and earth friendly, meanwhile they are cutting down trees to make there skateboards.  I like I changed the shirt to power to the chainsaw and how it looks like it is actually on the shirt. I think it’s almost hard to notice that I changed the shirt because it blends in so well.

Things I dislike:
I don't like how flat the chainsaw is and I feel like I could of maybe found a better picture of one. I feel like it doesn’t fit in with the picture.  I also didn’t like that I picked my favourite skateboard company to do this on. I  wanted to do something that related to me and this is what I came up with but I find it kind of funny that I picked a company I liked than made fun of it. I also don’t like the bottom right corner where the tree is how it doesn’t blend in as well with the background.

What makes it art:
This piece is art because I took an image and changed it. It was an advertisement and I changed it to what I thought about the company. I expressed my thought about something through the image.  Its art because I used my Photoshop skills to cut different pictures out and blend them in with others.

3D

What I like about them.  I like how they are 3d and how they pop out.  I like the fence one how it makes the fence look like it is sticking out in front of the trees.  I enjoyed making these 3d images and learning how to make them I wish photo shop elements could do this.
What I don’t like a bout them.  At first when we started this assignment I thought it was hard and I didn’t like it at first.  I don’t like how you have to line the 2 pictures up and sometimes you have to align them up somewhere different in order for it to work.
What makes it art. These pictures are art because it is photography and we made them 3d.  Its art because we had to plan on what we wanted to pop out and we had to take pictures of something with a foreground and a background so that something would pop out.

after the apocalypse reflection

What I like about this piece is the design of the cement truck becoming a bath/ shower.  I like how its 3d and how the dots make everything pop out that much more.  I really found it interesting on how using different colours makes it more 3d.
What i don’t like about this piece is how simple the design is.  If I were to redo this assignment I would make it bigger and add a lot more objects to make it more unique.  I think it would be cool to do a picture with many different buildings like this, or maybe make a town.

after the apocalypse

For this assignment I would like to incorporate a lot of nature in the design. For example build the house into a hill or on trees.  I would also like to incorporate pieces from modern buildings and cars.  I would like to make a way for water to get there and recycle a lot of random house hold items into something like using plastic bags for shingles or to hold water.

the spirit of endurance final

What I like. I like how I went to somebodies farm and jumped into there field with cows and took pictures of there tree. I really like the background and how the brick is coming through the trees. I liked the background so much I saved it before I added the spider webs and the tree on the right side and I made an enjoy don’t destroy piece with it.
What I don’t like. I don’t really like how the picture of the tree I took on the right side doesn’t really fit in well. I wish I took the pictures of the tree before I added the tree on the left. I really found troubles with this assignment but now when I look back I feel like I could have done a better job and made it look a little better. I think I don’t really like the outcome of this picture maby because it was the first assignment of the year and I lost my Photoshop skills over the summer.
How dose this represent the spirit of endurance. I think this represents the spirit of endurance because the tree that I took pictures of had almost all of its limbs cut off accept for one that stretched put really far. From the road it looked like a big tall dead tree stump but when you drive down the road you can see the long branch sticking out of the tree with green leafs on  it .

the spirit of endurance brainstorming

As soon as I read this assignment about the photo of the tree I immediately thought of a tree on my bus route that has all of its limbs cut off accept for one that branches over really far.  I have always looked at this tree differently and saw something different in it.  I could never find out what was so unique about it and why it stuck out in my mind until I read this assignment.  The fact that it is still alive and living after almost every branch was cut off I thought was amazing. On the weekend my mom drove me to their place and I hoped the fence into a field of cows and took a bunch of pictures of the tree.

rotoball

what I like most about my roto ball is the ending where the ball transformes into the person and jumps through the other two people.  I like how it turns back into a ball and bounces off the wall across the screen. I also like the background in my video I feel like it realy fit the theme.

what i like least about my roto ball is the start i think its really slow and boring. i dont like the start because its just 2 peoeple standing there and nuthing realy happens. I also dont like the video i selected to do I would of rather stuck with my first idea with the skateboarding but it got deleted.  if i could go back I would smoothing out the rough buymby tranceings and pik a different theme.
